2013 Nobilo Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
#nb-14-14
The wines from Marlborough, New Zealand have become notable due to the prestige of their Sauvignon Blancs.  I have noticed over the years that one identifying marker is the presence of a citrus quality suggesting grapefruit flavors.  A good example would be the 2013 Nobilo Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

The wine is a pale straw color with an aroma of tropical fruit underscored by a citrus breeze.  The flavor is bursting with pineapple and mango, with the stated presence of the taste of grapefruit, which highlights these wines.  The finish is crisp and clean, with that lingering suggestion of a citrus breeze.  The alcohol content is 12.5%.

To welcome the arrival of spring, we paired the Noblio with a fresh shrimp salad, topped with a spicy Asian sesame dressing.  The result was most enjoyable.  Now that warmer weather is finally gracing our lives, wines like this become more and more appealing.  Norm's score is 87.
