2014 Coppola Diamond Collection Ivory Label Cabernet Sauvignon

We recently visited some old friends and took along a bottle of 2014 Coppola Diamond Collection Cabernet Sauvignon for all of us to sample. In the past I have rated this one quite high in the value-priced Cab category. It is maybe one point less in score than the previous vintage which I had enjoyed, but it still is a clear "winner" in its class.
The Coppola Cab opens with a fragrant nose suggesting dark berries, and then leads you to a display of full-bodied ripe fruit highlighted by a rich wave of jammy blackberry, chased by an under-current of black cherry. The flavor is accompanied by a moderate dose of toasty oak imparted by its twelve months in the barrel. The alcohol content is 13.7 %, and Norm's score is 90.
Burn a slab of beef on the grill and serve the Coppola Cab alongside, or pair it with most any other grilled meat, and you will have a great meal! This is also an excellent companion for lasagna or other such pasta delights.
