Good wines from Rioja, Spain are not hard to find, however exceptional wines from Rioja may not be on the shelf at your local supermarket, but are worth a little extra effort to locate.  The 2015 Marques de Murrieta Reserva is worth the effort!  This wine is aged 18 months in the barrel and 18 months in the bottle, and is a much more refined essence than what you might find at the Kroger!

The wine has a wonderful aroma, and a complexity of flavors which tease the palate and combine to heighten your senses as well as your enjoyment in the moment.  The flavor is light cherry with a spicy backbone of blackberry, leading to a complex finish of elegant structure. The wine simply begs for another sip.  The alcohol content is 14%, and Norm's score is 92.

We, of course, enjoyed this wine with a juicy grilled t-bone, which, as much as I like steak, seemed a little mundane for this superior bottle of wine.  I think pairing this one with Lamb Osso Buco would be magnificent!

score: 92
price: $24 - $30
