2017 Decoy Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc
#50-19

Decoy is the secondary label for Duckhorn Vineyards located in Napa-Sonoma California, but there was nothing second best about the bottle of Decoy Sauvignon Blanc we enjoyed the other night with our roasted chicken.

The first thing to grab my attention is the way the nose filled the room as soon as the wine was opened.  The wonderful aroma of apples and melon wafted through the air. with the fresh scent of citrus zest chasing after.  The flavors were well rounded, with an emphasis on the apple, with touches of melon and stone fruit, and a little lemon zest to crisp things up.  The finish was bright and clean with a faint grassy character.  The alcohol content is 13.5%, and Norm's score is 90.

This is a very solid white wine, which would be most pleasant with almost any fish or fowl entree.  It would indeed be a star if paired with Oysters Rockefeller, or a similar shellfish selection!  The Chardonnay Queen gave her stamp of approval commenting; " huge fruity nose, with a clean lingering finish!"

score: 90
price: $18 - $23
