2014 Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon
#nb-48-17

This past weekend we enjoyed snow on the ground and fillets on the grill while at a friend's house in Atlanta.  The company, the snow and the steaks were all great, and the wine was superb, possibly the best Cab I have had in the last couple of years.  The 2014 Mount Veeder is wonderful right now, but if you can resist temptation, it will be even better in about two or three more years!

Starting with a heady nose as fragrant as a basket of fresh dark berries, the Mount Veeder leads you into a burst of flavor which is both supple and intense at the same time.  This is a "Real Deal" Cab which sports gobs of rich fruit dominated by black cherry and blackberry, underscored with a little herb and black currant.  The wine is still young and features lots of tannin which is mellow, but still asserts its presence in a long and lingering finish.  The alcohol content is 14.5%, and Norm's score is 93.

I don't know how any food could be as good with this Cab as our "snow fillets", but I am sure it will pair well with and grilled meat, or hearty stew.

price: $39 - $45
score - 93
