2015 Smoking Loon Old Vine Zinfandel
#nb-06-18

The abundance of good Zinfandel in the market is nice to see, especially since there are a lot of good choices out there, and many are priced at around or below ten dollars per bottle.  I like Zin because it is an every day drinker, and also a good companion for my Saturday night steak.  The 2015 Smoking Loon Old Vine Zinfandel goes well with steak on Saturday, or a big plate of Spaghetti on Wednesday.

The color is dark and clear with a nose full of brier patch fruits leading to a basket full of flavor.  The taste smacks of black cherry and jammy dark berries, with a touch of cranberry.  The finish is smooth and clean with a small dose of mellow tannin.  The alcohol content is 14%, and Norm's score is 88.

We served the Smoking Loon Zin with our "House Special Baked Meatloaf and Spaghetti", for a Thursday night treat!

score: 88
price: $8 - $11
