2017 Kris Pinot Grigio
2017 Zenato Pinot Grigio
#48-19
We had a visit from old friends this past weekend and had a great time eating and enjoying good wines. My wife is the Chardonnay Queen, but the other lady really likes Pinot Grigio, so the two of them had a good time sampling the 2017 Zenato Pinto Grigio, which neither had tried before, and they both really liked it. The next day when we opened a bottle of 2017 Kris Pinot Grigio, I asked the Chardonnay Queen to make a comparison. Her scores were 89 for the Zenato, and 90 for the Kris. She had these comments to add:
"The Kris closely follows the textbook style for Pinot Grigio, with a clean apple nose, and the flavors of pear and apple, with a splash of citrus. The finish is crisp and clean. The Zenato is more rounded and has a bigger mouthfeel, and also has a clean finish." (The Chardonnay Queen 11/2019)
The alcohol content for the Kris Pinot Grigio is 12.5%, and The Chardonnay Queen's score is 90.
score: 90
score: 89
price: $10 - $13 (both)
Either of these two Pinot Grigios would make a good choice for your Thanksgiving Dinner, and below are a few more choices which I have written about earlier this year.
1. 2017 Joel Gott Oregon Pinot Gris ($16) - 90
2. 2017 Fritz Zimmer Piesporter Goldtropfchen Spatlese ($14) - 90
3. 2017 Ferrai Carano Fume Blanc ($14) - 89
4. 2017 Carneros Creek Reserve Chardonnay ($20) - 90
5. 2015 La Crema Russian River Pinot Noir ($40) - 92
HAPPY THANKSGIVING !
