2016 Nobilo Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
#nb-24-17

I like Sauvignon Blanc, even though the style may vary immensely from winery to winery, and maybe even vary from one vintage to another of the same label.  We recently sampled a bottle of Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough in New Zealand, alongside a grilled tuna steak.  It made for quite an enjoyable evening.

The Nobilo opens with an aromatic nose full of tropical and stone fruit scents.  The flavor was abundant with the presence of peach and pineapple being dominate, with a background of fragrant lemon-orange citrus.  The fruit was ripe and bursting with flavor, with just enough acidity to produce a clean finish.  The alcohol content is 12.5%, and  Norm's score is 88.

The tuna steak was grilled after being marinated in ginger, lime, and soy sauce, cooked until just browned on the outside, and was well accompanied by the 2016 Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc, which would also pair with Asian or Mexican fare.

price : $11 - $15
score:  88
