2016 Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc
#nb-13-18

We had dinner with good friends at a well known "Coastal Italian' restaurant on the panhandle of Florida last week, and savored the bounty of the sea coupled with Italian fare for a fantastic dinner.  We enhanced our repast with a bottle Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc which made the experience even more delightful.  Its hard to beat good friends, good food, and good wine!

The Duckhorn from Napa Valley opens with a heady nose of melon and citrus which leads to flavors of melon, lime, a little peach and a hint of lemon zest.  The structure is well balanced with big fruit and crisp acidity, flowing into a refreshing finish which begs for another sip!  The alcohol content is 13.5%, and Norm's score is 90.

Our wonderful meal was mostly shellfish and pasta in rich flavorful sauces, which the wine accentuated extremely well.  My dish was a coastal delight very similar to Cioppino, with a variety of fish and shellfish in a rich broth.  Seafood and Italian is a combination which is hard to beat.

price: $24 - $29
score: 90
