2018 Trapiche Oak Cask Malbec
#14-19

I have sampled this one several times in the past, and the 2018 vintage is another winner in the value priced category for red wine.  There are many California wineries which wish they could produce a red wine as good as this Argentinian Malbec for ten dollars! Trapiche regularly gets scores in the high eighties and low nineties for this delicious Malbec.

The color is a beautiful deep red which attracts one to a full nose of dark fruit and spice.  The flavors explode in your mouth with gobs of black cherry, plum, and toasty vanilla oak.  This is a full-bodied wine with both character and complexity, with a finish which sails off into the night.  The alcohol content is 13.5%, and Norm's score is 89.

We enjoyed the Trapiche Malbec with a medium rare fillet from the grill, sided by a fresh green salad with avocado and tomato.  It was delightful!

score: 89
price: $9 - $12
